Fixtures list
We are excited to share the provisional swimming fixture schedule for 2026. This schedule outlines the key events planned for the year ahead, giving you an overview to help with planning and preparation. Events in red are club galas, where the coach selects the team, and in black are open meets, where the swimmer/parent enters the event. See Competing at Open Meets or Galas for more information.
Please note that this schedule is subject to change. The venues for galas are notified before each round.

Open Meets and Gala's
Our fixtures schedule includes Open Meets and Gala's which are explained below:
- Open Meets
Open meets are competitions where swimmers from different clubs and areas come together to race. These meets are:
-
- Open to all clubs: Swimmers compete against others from outside their home club.
- Competitive and structured: Swimmers are seeded into heats based on their entry times to ensure fair and close racing.
- Time-based: The focus is on achieving personal best times (PBs) and qualifying for higher-level events.
- Multiple levels: Open meets often have categories (Level 1 to Level 4) based on the swimmers’ experience and the meet's purpose. For example, Level 1 meets are for advanced swimmers aiming for national times, while Level 4 meets are more local and developmental.
- Galas
Swimming galas are usually smaller, more local events using a team selected by the coaches. These galas are:
-
- Club-based: Typically involve swimmers from a single club or a small group of clubs.
- Team-focused: Many galas are designed for club teams to compete against each other. Scoring is often based on points earned for placing in races, contributing to a team total.
- Less formal: While still competitive, galas are often less intense than open meets, making them a great introduction to competitive swimming for newer swimmers.
